The Electrification Index: First Public Release Scheduled for March 1, 2026

The Electrification Index will publish its first public release on March 1, 2026.

This inaugural edition marks the culmination of more than two years of structured data collection, expert contribution, and methodological development across the global electrification ecosystem.

Electrification is no longer constrained by ambition or capital alone. Power generation capacity, grid interconnection, industrial equipment availability, skilled labor, permitting timelines, and compute demand are now interacting as a single system. The Electrification Index exists to measure that system as it operates in reality.

What the First Release Will Cover

The February 1 release will present a consolidated benchmark of electrification capacity and readiness across three interconnected domains:

  • Energy
Power generation, transmission, distribution, and grid resilience
  • Industry
Equipment manufacturing, EPC capacity, labor availability, supply chains, and deployment timelines
  • Compute
Data center expansion, AI and cloud load growth, interconnection limits, and power availability for compute-intensive infrastructure

Rather than projecting future scenarios or policy outcomes, the Index focuses on deliverability — what can realistically be built, connected, and sustained under current system conditions.

Methodology and Independence

The Electrification Index is independent by design. It does not represent the interests of any single utility, manufacturer, EPC, hyperscaler, financial institution, or policymaking body.

The benchmark is informed by a growing network of 1,000+ contributors spanning utilities, grid operators, EPCs, OEMs, industrial operators, hyperscalers, and academic research institutions. Inputs combine structured surveys, public data, expert validation, and advisory review.

Methodology is published, versioned, and updated over time. Changes to inputs or weighting are disclosed to preserve transparency, reproducibility, and long-term relevance.

Publication Cadence

Following the February 1 release, the Electrification Index will publish on a structured cadence:

  • Monthly updates tracking near-term capacity shifts and emerging constraints
  • Quarterly syntheses identifying directional changes and systemic risks
  • Annual reports providing a comprehensive view of electrification capacity and readiness

Targeted briefs and methodology updates will be released as needed.
